It is the largest, most imposing and most beautiful gorge in the world. It has been part of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve Network since 1981. It is one of the most important sights of Crete, attracting many thousands of tourists every year who want to cross the 15.9 km route from Omalos to Agia Roumeli.
Fantastic landscape with rare geomorphological features, unique habitat with vast wealth of flora and fauna. It also hosts many different species of birds and animals, the most famous of which is the Cretan chamois known as KRI-KRI or the Cretan wild. The passage of the Gorge is usually done in 6 to 8 hours depending on the walk, suitable for the possibility of enjoying the route.
An experience that will surely be unforgettable since human intervention is far from this creation of nature. Trees emerge from everywhere, huge rocks that seal the sky, icy and transparent waters in various places, these are just some of the things you will encounter.
